Yup sounds about as likely as any seeded news story in the media before they announce another development in their endless war of 'terror'.
So it's definitely not the Libyans now the cabal have already murdered Gaddafi [anally raped on pre-watershed TV news reports if anyone cares to remember] and installed their much needed central bank there.
I suppose we'll have to take these new revelations from unnamed foreign intelligence agents as fact now that Trump has announced he's pulling out of Syria, considering he's best buddies with Netanyahu, there is no reason he'd pull out of Syria and remove their existing protection of FSA/ISIS unless he was told there's another planned invasion coming up.

I should point out, for absolute clarity and balance, that Thurman denies that (now common) interpretation of him being discredited as an 'expert'. He says he was not sacked after the pipe bomb case, and instead retired from the FBI. He also points to decades of service within the FBI's forensic labs. But doubts about him have remained ever since.

I stress again...
Megrahi was a known Libyan agent - of that there is little doubt.
But his conviction was based significantly on three pieces of 'forensic' related evidence.
a) The timing device used in the bomb. At first, the UK and US told the world the device was sold by a Swiss company exclusively in Libya. Years later, it was revealed the timers were freely available for purchase in Germany at the time.
b) The circuit board used in the bomb. The US claimed to have found fragments of the circuit board at the scene - possible, but why didn't the bigger and more regular British search crews find it? Regardless, years later the US finally went public with the fragments. There was just one problem: years afterwards, an independent expert said the circuit board fragment produced to convict Megrahi was most likely a piece from a circuit board that was not patented until 1991 - three years after the bombing.
c) The man it all comes back to: Thomas Thurman. The supposed 'expert' FBI forensic analyst. Thurman boasted that he was the forensic genius who managed to match/fit the circuit board fragment to the timing device found in the wreckage. There was just one problem. In 1995, Thurman was discovered to have effectively slanted evidence in a separate terrorist case involving a pipe bomb. He gave influential opinion in cases when he had no expertise on the issues at hand, and also referred key parts of forensic investigations to people not adequately qualified to carry them out.
FWIW, my personal view is that the German's arrested members of the Palestinian terror cell behind the bombing two months before Lockerbie. They had them. Two months later, members of the same cell executed a long-planned attack which murdered 270 people. They had been operating under the noses of European authorities, the FBI/CIA and others at the behest of Iran.
For whatever reason - and we can only speculate - this did not fit with US foreign police aims, and blame shifted towards an easier whipping boy: Libya.

Khreesat is thought by many informed sources to have been involved in the plot. His daughter - the source of the story in today's Mirror - is clearly not going to implicate her father.
But the general point the daughter is making is understood, by many genuinely in the know, to be the most likely truth: that Iran ordered the bombing and paid a Palestinian anti-PLO faction to carry out the murders.
What the Mirror have got today is an interview with the daughter of one of the men suspected as having been involved, attempting to clear her dad of blame, while acknowledging the involvement of Iran/Palestinian terror groups.
Khreesat was a member of the cell arrested in Germany two months before the bombing, one of whom had a bomb in his car which was almost identical to the bomb used to blow up the plane - right down to the same Toshiba cassette recorder into which the Lockerbie bomb was fitted.
Today's Mirror interview is a classic. 'Yes, it was my dad's terror group who did it - but my lovely dad, a member of said terror group, was in no involved.'

Itchy - I can't recall there being much disagreement about the number of deaths once a certain period of investigation had passed. The passenger logs were quickly updated after a couple of people checked-in luggage but missed the flight (one was with his family in the airport bar and got a bit drunk). Local police also quickly worked out that 11 people died on the ground in the village.
But there might have been some initial confusion, granted. Always the case when these things happen, unfortunately.
